When did you last genuinely take the time out to nurture your soul?
I mean few days to retreat, of aloneness to reflect, contemplate and meditate on your life, asking yourself the deeper questions like, where are you are currently at in life? Are you happy and balanced in all areas of your life? If not which areas need changing?
For most of us is having a self-guided retreat is a long overdue. Today our lives have become a whirlwind of doing things and being “on” all the time, there is always such a full schedule that we fill our lives and minds every minute of the day, with work, home, family, social media, society pressures etc. If that’s not bad enough we actually commend ourselves or let others commend us at multi-tasking, meaning we are on overload and extremely exhausted.
Even when we rest we have things buzzing in our heads of what needs to be done and the “don’t forget” memos popping up every few seconds, all of this energy pulling us into the past and future does not allow us to be in our present state of “Being”. The outside world and social media begin to affect our inner sanctuary, and peace and harmony get pushed aside, we lock up our “Soul” deep within where no one can find it, not even you and then we start living a cardboard cut-out life that becomes what others want you to be…far far away from our authentic self.
You take a good look at your outer life and feel all is well, yet why are you still feeling somethings missing?
You feel as though you are drying up inside and things are crumbling? This is the stirring of your Soul wanting to emerge and help you live the life you were born to live. You see when you incarnated you made a Soul Contract to experience certain things and live them, however when we are born we forget all that we “know” and start living as humans and get intertwined in the relationships and living the life others want for you. It starts as early as childhood when we want to please our parents and be what they want us to be, then our education, then career’s take over and after a few decades you are living the life others expect of you and you have all these responsibilities.
We are all called upon to be responsible in our world and in our lives, and we have responsibilities to our families and our work. But let’s look deeper and reflect on the meaning of true responsibility. The most important thing that we often neglect is the responsibility to ourselves. In this very busy life we have created for ourselves, we often forget to take responsibility for the one thing that we most need to take care of….Ourselves!
So the next logical question is…HOW?
I would like to share with you some of my experiences and responsibilities I have created for myself that will perhaps give you some insight on how you can experience and create your own.
Eva Rx
I created a prescription for myself and called it Eva Rx – this helped me take daily doses of what I needed for my personal growth and evolution. Allowing me to release that which no longer served me on my Souls path and assist me with filling the void with my own Inner Light that illuminated my path to lead me to live my “Authentic Life”.
I invite you to create your own prescription that best fits your life.
Meditation
The first thing I had to address was to clear the mind of the clutter and remove all the roommates that were in there making noise and disturbing the peace. I started to meditate daily and over a period of time I noticed, as my mind let go of the clutter, and the roommates left one by one…my body began to relax, and my heart began to soften, how much there is to listen to inside. The still small whisperings of my soul…the things that I am normally too busy to do and my mind is too loud to notice. I realized that this is a very real responsibility, and I need to listen to how my body needs nurturing, how my Soul needs tending. This kind of deep listening, I would say deep “Self” responsibility, only happens when I gave myself the permission to take time out of my busy life.
Release and Letting Go
Once I began to listen to my Soul speak to me I realized that I had to release and let go of the old patterns, belief systems and parts of me that were no longer going to serve me in the present or future. I was tired of the ego patterns, the repetitive thoughts, the recycled emotions and all that I became that was not really me. It’s like a death rebirth process, in that I allowed the parts of me that were old and worn out to die and I gave birth in silence and solitude to my Divine Self, my Soul then connected me to the vertical aspect of my life, my connection to source. (This is available to all when we put our attention and focus on it).
The New Authentic Me
As I let go of all the external busyness and the clutter of the mind, the old patterns, I filled the void with the new energy that my Soul needed. I was able to let myself unwind, relax, let go and surrender.
I give myself permission daily to enjoy my connection with nature & Mother Earth. This allowed me to be present with the inward whisperings, to respond effortlessly to my body, heart and minds needs in each moment. I began doing things I loved most, meditating, reading, writing, cooking, creating new things and walking in nature.
The gift of being intensely present with the green of the grass and the beauty of all the seasons; spring is one of my favorite seasons as it reminds me of new beginnings. Spring flowers spraying the hillsides with splashes of purple and yellow, the air is the perfect temperature in beautiful landscapes of Southern California, I don’t know if it was God designing this day so perfectly for me, or maybe it was just me, slowing down enough to be present and really breathe it in.
Your Rx
Are you feeling its time for you to create your own Rx? Don’t know when you last took time to give yourself a retreat? Or even take a day to contemplate on your inner self. Now if the time…I highly recommend you give yourself this gift. The world will go on without you, and you will come back so much more energized, enlivened and enriched. You will come back with so much more of yourself, your True Self, to give to the world.
Give yourself a day of retreat once a month, a week of retreat every six months to a year, and a longer retreat when possible. We spread ourselves so thin, and are a slave to everyone else’s agenda’s, we wonder why we are tired, burned out, overwhelmed, exhausted and are dealing with so many health challenges. The answer can be quite simple…some deep alone time! You deserve it! Life is short, be who you came to be in this Life!
